Each class starts with a voice, body= and technique barre followed by acting out scenes. The emphasis of the cla= ss is scene work and character development tailored to the actor along with= exercises to overcome common performance pitfalls and problems. These exer= cises include breath control, voice strengthening, articulation, memorizati= on, concentration, and focus and relaxation techniques.

Dana Hart=A0appren= ticed to the Cleveland Play House and has been a member of Actors Equity fo= r over 25 years. He has performed from Alaska to Zimbabwe and in 48 of the = 50 states including seasons with Alaska Repertory Theatre, Center Stage (Ba= ltimore), Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, San Diego Repertory Theatre and Thea= tre West Virginia. He has appeared Off- Broadway in New York and with many = Northeast Ohio theatres including The Beck Center, Ensemble, Actors' Su= mmit, Dobama, Clague Playhouse, Great Lakes Theatre Festival and the Clevel= and PlayHouse.

Mr. Hart holds degrees in both Theatre Arts = and English (teaching) from the University of Alaska Fairbanks . He is curr= ently the Upper School Drama and Speech teacher at the Laurel School in Sha= ker Heights and also a member of the faculty at the Beck Center for the Per= forming Arts. While in Alaska Mr. Hart was the co-founder of Playmaking: a = theatre company doing theatre and storytelling workshops in towns and villa= ges across Alaska . He was both a teacher and the Artistic Director of the = Sitka Summer Fine Arts Camp and a teacher with both the Fairbanks Summer Fi= ne Arts Camp and the Fairmount Performing Arts Camp at Laurel School . First up - The incredible ALEXIS AND ARIC FLOYD ! *Alexis Generette Floyd* (Cassie) a sophomore at Hawken School, has received critical acclaim for performances including Clarissa in *Dream/Home* with Dobama Theatre at the Cleveland Play House, Broadway with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, Tiger Lily in*Peter Pan* at the Beck Center, Emmie in *Caroline, or Change* with Dobama and Karamu Theaters, and U/S Dorothy/Ensemble in *The Wiz* at Cain Park. Alexis will also be appearing in HYT's production of *Once On This Island* as Ti Moune and as Amy in FPAC's upcoming production of *Eat (It's Not About Food). *. She currently studies voice with Cynthia Wohlschlager at the Cleveland Institute of Music where she also studied violin for ten years. She has studied dance at Shaker Dance Academy, Duffy Liturgical Dance, Cleveland School of Dance, and the School of Cleveland San Jose Ballet. As grand prize winner of the 2009 Jean L. Petit Memorial Music Scholarship Competition, Alexis will sing with the Cleveland POPS orchestra at Severance Hall this season.
