A  SHAYNA MAIDEL

Literally translated as "a pretty girl," A Shayna Maidel  conveys the=20
aftermath of the Holocaust through a poignant, imaginatively  conceived exam=
ination=20
of one divided family's experience.=20

Two sisters  separated in childhood=E2=80=94one raised in America, the other=
 in Poland
=E2=80=94are reunited  in New York City in 1946 in the wake of World War II=20=
and the=20
Holocaust.  After a 15-year separation and the loss of most family members,=20
they are  nearly strangers and struggle to reconnect. A Shayna Maidel by Bar=
bara =20
Lebow was the first winner of The Mandel Jewish Community Center's Dorothy =20
Silver Playwriting Competition.
